The purpose of this project is the application of the “holistic energy chain” approach, by examining and applying processes that produce/distribute “clean” raw materials. It is also the generation of energy and energy carriers using these raw materials, by applying selected pilot facilities and using them in realistic environments. In this context, the following are examined and implemented, on behalf of the suggested project “Synergeia-CERTH”:

• state-of-the-art “clean” fuel/energy carrier producing technologies, using environmental friendly raw material
• pilot plants that apply such technologies (the most suitable of them, so that they can be evaluated in real-life conditions)
• methods that optimize energy usage in archetype buildings (“energy-smart buildings”) and in transportation (use of efficient and “clean” motors, use of electrical automobiles, motorcycles and bicycles). In both cases the interoperability with advanced / realistic administration algorithms and with alternative fuel technologies is highlighted.

These are the pillars that aim to create substantial bonds between the Institutes of CERTH. These bonds will bear the implementation of effective supplementary actions that will amplify the already proven excellence of the Institutes.
